Homebrew calculators
The math behind brewing beer at home, done in a second: ABV, bitterness, color, priming sugar and water. Metric or US units, and every calculator explains the formula it uses.
5 calculators for brewing beer at home
- ABV CalculatorEnter your gravity before and after fermentation and it tells you how much alcohol your beer has and how much work the yeast has done.
- IBU CalculatorAdd each hop with its weight, alpha acids and boil time, and it gives you the recipe's IBU and which styles it fits.
- Beer Color CalculatorEnter the weight and color (EBC) of each malt and it shows you what color your beer will be, in EBC and SRM, and which styles share that color.
- Priming Sugar CalculatorIt tells you how many grams of priming sugar you need to bottle carbonate, based on the volume, the temperature the beer fermented at and the carbonation the style calls for.
- Mash & Sparge Water CalculatorIt tells you how much water to heat for the mash and the sparge, how much wort you should collect before the boil and how hot your strike water should be.
The formulas are the standard ones among homebrewers (Tinseth for bitterness, Morey for color). They give a very good estimate, not a lab result.
